As AI capabilities rapidly evolve—particularly with the introduction of generative AI—Eagle Technology recognises the need to extend trusted practices beyond traditional Geospatial AI Tools & models into broader AI-enabled systems and workflows. These technologies introduce new opportunities for automation, insight, and productivity, but also material risks that must be actively governed and managed across both internal operations and customer-facing solutions.
This document outlines Eagle’s Trusted AI vision, drawing inspiration from Esri’s Trusted AI principles, while expanding the application of these principles across corporate systems, custom solution development, Managed Services, and staff productivity tools. Applying Trusted AI Across Eagle Technology
Design
Eagle’s approach to solution development using AI is grounded in structured governance, risk assessment, and secure sotware development practices. We employ a risk evaluation process to assess new AI products and features, ensuring they meet relevant privacy and security standards.
Human-in-the-loop design is a foundational principle, ensuring that AI supports decision-making rather than replaces it. EGuardrails are embedded throughout the development lifecycle to allow alignment with ethical principles and Eagle’s internal standards.
When developing custom geospatial and AI-enabled solutions, Eagle Technology follows secure development lifecycle practices. Any AI models or associated technology and services are assessed for data provenance, licensing, bias, performance reliability and operational risk, ensuring alignment with oversight provided through Eagle’s AI Governance framework.
Customer Choice
Eagle prioritises transparency and user control when it comes to Generative AI by informing customers when Generative AI is being used and providing them with alternative options. Due to the broader societal concerns with some use cases, or other trust concerns, some organisations choose to block generative AI. With Esri products, generative AI capabilities are only enabled when customers opt-in, ensuring that users have full autonomy over their use. For customer managed products, this can include optional installation components and administrative override settings for services.
Data
Eagle prioritises data security, ownership and control with our products including when utilising AI functionality within ArcGIS. We understand the importance of Trusted AI, and that includes transparency in data handling.
Corporate Systems and Business Operations
AI tools and capabilities used within corporate systems—such as finance, HR, sales, and customer support—are governed to ensure appropriate use, data protection, and human oversight. Generative AI used for summarisation, drafting, or analytics is positioned as decision support, not decision replacement, with accountability remaining with the user
Managed Services
AI used within Managed Services environments is subject to the same principles and this compliments strict ISO/IEC 27001 compliance for Information Security. This includes monitoring AI-enabled workloads, protecting customer data, logging activity, and ensuring incident response processes address AI-related risks. Trusted AI enhances service reliability without compromising security.
Staff Productivity and Enablement
Eagle Technology supports the responsible use of AI tools to enhance staff productivity, across research assistance, code support, documentation drafting, and knowledge discovery. Clear policies and guidance ensure these tools are used securely, ethically, and in alignment with organisational standards, while mitigating risks such as over-reliance and misuse.
Governance and Continuous Improvement
Eagle has established a cross-functional AI Governance Board as part of an integrated strategy to provide oversight, policy enforcement and risk management across all AI activities.
This fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation, allowing us to leverage the power of AI while prioritising trust and responsibility for both our products we deliver to customers, as well as our internal operations. Our approach to AI governance is aligned with ISO/IEC 42001 principles. This includes strong governance, defined policies, risk assessments, roles and responsibilities, and review mechanisms covering all AI use cases across the organization.
Trusted AI is not a one-time implementation but a continuous journey. Eagle Technology regularly reviews AI systems, updates controls, and incorporates lessons learned to ensure AI continues to deliver value with trust as its foundation.
